New posts and a GREAT opportunity for Californians and New Jerseyans!!! - October 17, 2011

Don't forget to check at the bottom for the GREAT opportunities
for Californians and New Jerseryans.....

I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE TO PART WITH THESE BEAUTIES!!
I recently found this set of 10 "TO DIE FOR!!" Swedish Gustavian sidechairs.
They were from a New York estate originally purchased from Florian Papp in Manhattan for $49,000.00.  I could just cry that my dining room is finished, but that's what is great about my business, I get to buy them anyway and feel like they're mine!  These should be handled like an adoption, they are so special....It is so very rare to find a set of 10 chairs, never mind a set of 10 SPECTACULAR chairs...I know because I looked for myself for an eternity... They are covered in cream and steel gray silk...

The gray upholstery looks blue here but it's the camera ...love the carving

Wonderful...
Set of 10 Swedish Gustavian Sidechairs covered in silk
h 33.75, w 19, d 16.25   $8,200.00 set

This dining room I pulled from one of my favorite blogs (mentioned below) it shows a set of chairs just like a set of 6 I found in France covered in leather with original nailheads. I  love the wall color with white painted trim.  I just realized I also have the mirror (below)
This is a traditional design but, by incorporating  antiques,  both the chairs and mirror add importance. Without an antique, the room lacks feeling and soul...

Vintage Leather Sidechairs with nailheads
h 36 w 20 d 18   $5,200.00 set of 6   FRANCE

Great  patina....

Another dining room with simple classic cherry chairs and a Venetian chandelier so similar to the chairs and chandelier I found in France (below)

Vintage Murano 8 arm chandelier all hand blown in tinted glass
h 24, diameter 31"   $1,500.00   FRANCE

Vintage Cherry Classical Sidechairs    FRANCE
h 34, w 18.5, d 17   $5,600.00 set of 10

I love how the X's round at their joining with the chair back....wonderful Cherry...

Another dining room... although I don't love a frilly pleated skirt (sorry Joni),  the chairs look great in this room.  I know the room needs softening with the iron chandelier, the rustic French grocery sign and the sawbuck table and lack of a rug, but I would have used a flatter skirt.  These chairs are similar to a set I found in Belgium that I just got back from the upholsterer....

My set has really nice turned legs with a stretcher for more stability.
Set of 8 walnut turned leg dining chairs,   BELGIUM
h 40 w 20 d 19  $3,795.00 set of 8

Tawny wheat upholstery.

Another set with layered paint..to each his own but I feel these probably need recovering as the burlap is REAL, the scratchy kind.  They do this over in France just to make them look okay for selling purposes. The frames are terrific, layered gesso paint.
Vintage painted sidechairs,  FRANCE
 h 44, w 21, d 19   $2,200.00 set of 6

Beautiful dining room with the Swedish server I have available and on sale, below and, also the giltwood mirror shown above the painted piece (pictured on the website).
I like the architectural table base and the old shutters or panels flanking the server AND the silver collection centerpiece.

Period Gustavian Server SWEDEN,  h 43, w 45.5, d 17  $3,600.00

19th century ebonized mercury glass beveled edge mirror BELGIUM
diameter 36" $975.00

Best regards,
Bonny

P.S. Now for all my CALIFORNIAN followers...  I have a truck going to San Bernardino and it's not full.  The trucker is offering a flat rate of $150.00-$250.00 on anything you purchase to truck it to his warehouse in San Bernardino.   As you all know this is a great opportunity as the freight cost are high to California from the east coast.  Once there you can either pick it up yourself or arrange delivery with him (I'll help with that).  Please let me know right away if you have had your heart set on anything as the truck is leaving in 3 weeks.

P.P.S. And for New Jersey... Meredith Guida from Trouvaille has been working on a terrific event in New Jersey!   The Overlook Hospital Auxiliary has organized a kitchen tour of 7 beautiful homes in glorious Summit on Thursday, October 20th from 10 to 3pm with the latest and greatest of all things KITCHEN!  The group is very excited to feature all of our local talent including Heidi Piron Designs, Wilkat Designs, Cabri Kitchen, Pat Walsh, Marissa Lafiosca and more, many of whom are customers of Trouvaille.  This tour is raising money specifically for Ovarian Cancer Research at the Overlook Medical Center.  I can't wait to take a peek and support the cause, I hear it's fabulous!!  Tickets are available at Lois Schneider Realty & Overlook Downtown or visit the website at www.ohaux.org  for reservation forms.

Chatham Home Visit
Carole Dinnhaupt has been a customer for years and she so graciously agreed (with a little arm twisting) to allow me to photograph her beautiful and creative Chatham, New Jersey home.

The story of the house in Carole's words - "Andy and I met at the University of Scranton.  He lived in Madison, and I lived in PA (Bucks County).  When we would drive to each other's homes in the summer for visits (in between the land-line long-distance phone calls and snail mail!!), we would drive past this house.  We both loved it (well, I loved it - he thought it was cool).  We moved to a small house in Chatham in 1996, with no kids, and in 2003, after baby #3, were ready to move to a bigger home.  We bought the house across the street from this one, in part because I could wake up every morning, raise the shade, and look at my absolute favorite home.   About 3 months later, that house went on the market!!  We bought the house and moved in less than a year later.  I sometimes still pinch myself and think "I still can't believe we live here".

Love the red bench! The first indication there is passion in this home...

Great old windows give a glimpse of the living room with glassware waiting for cocktail hour on the vintage barcart.

The entry - notice the rug, the chandelier and the arched passageway framing the BEST desk area (I'll show a close-up further down)...she knows how to do it!

Louise is Lulu and is precious in every room including the family room...these chairs are terrific!
Lulu has her own sense of style...she rearranges doll furniture!!

I just knew these chairs were Italian!! check out the textured rug.

Much more interesting than  albums and easier than frames, Carole displays her photos in a glass jar.  Reminds me of reaching in for the prize after dental visits!

Vintage artists model (available) kids love to change the pose!

The wonderful living room...

Great pagoda sconces and serene neutral accessories...

The lucite ghost chair, the modern lamps (to die for shades) and antique French herbier collection on the wall (available) what a combo!

Vintage bar cart (available).

Old with new.....beautiful!

These are my favorite.....spectacular vintage brass nesting tables!

Loved this idea Carole "borrowed" from her friend Jen Cosgrove....the silver baby cups no longer in use evoke that special Momma moment whenever you see them....pierced porcelain compote (available).

Okay, I am so impressed with the result of placing these pieces together...the leather and brass x bench I found in Paris, Carole obsessed about this abstract oil painting of mine and knew it would look perfect here, the tortoise shell (available), the skin tray and this simple long oval mirror...STUNNING!!

For all of you concerned about the aged patina of rare mercury glass mirrors, look how much it adds to this clean, modern bathroom.  I LOVE a little patina to keep things interesting and who needs to see every detail of their face perfectly, I know I don't want to!

Carole snapped this horrendous picture of me trying to get everything in one shot...

See how REAL the dining room is??  Dog crate end table!!

You may recognize the silver framed oil painting on the bottom shelf here in the dining room.... Carole snagged this one in our silent auction we run regularly!

Polo balls (more available) in an alabaster compote.  I am always looking for alabaster and marble compotes and I just sponsored a giveaway of one on the Cote de Texas blog, my favorite,  www.cotedetexas.blogspot.com

LOVE LOVE the orange mirror, the wall color with white trim, AND the chairs.  See the contrast of the chairs with the traditional mahogany table??  Many of you have inherited these tables and you are disappointed thinking you have to go traditional.  All the white in the room compliments the chairs beautifully...we also have settees/banquettes seen here available at the shop...

The iconic 1950's pink bathroom....

Lulu's bedroom.....the paper is textured!

Isn't the master bedroom true Hollywood glam!!  Love the color palette and the vintage chandelier...

Art Deco armoire....

Love the glossy wall paint

This ceiling canopy is original, impressively large and is perfect for the wood and brass chandelier....

Carole wanted the mirror to float in front of the window and while shopping one day spotted this steel rod on a base and mounted it there...isn't she unreal??  look at the skin tray and the Jonathan Adler lamp...

Yes, those are boobies!!

The kitchen....Carole said they decided against renovating their kitchen to invest in a weekend home instead....I didn't even notice....love  the red "tool cabinet" used  as their pantry   A true example of making lemonade out of lemons!

Magnetic chalkboard wall...Carole changes the quotes when the spirit moves her...

The mud room/porch....

I hope you enjoyed this visit as much as I did.  Carole is one of a kind and I thank her for allowing us a peak and sharing her wonderful ideas.  How inspiring for her children to grow up with such creativity around them and a Mom with great energy!
I have great customers!
