Well THIS is worth mentioning.  On my way to the airport last week I got a call HGTV wants to film a House Hunters segment at the shop!   NO LIE!!!    A customer currently filming their episode on the show told them one of their favorite pastimes was shopping for antiques por moi!

I flew in Sunday , shot over to the store and had a ball filming with Mike and Kristin and the crew of  House Hunters.

My buying trip was a dirty one with clothing packed that would stand a lot of sweat and dirt. WEEELLL I had nothing to wear and when my wonderful sister called from my closet saying "what do you want me to bring" I couldn't even think. When I am away on a buying trip I find it really hard to focus on anything else, obviously from the picture above, snort!!
I think I wore that shirt when I was pregnant!!

The sound guy getting friendly as I was getting "miked".

 Getting briefed by the producer.

I was supposed to describe some things to them including the Swedish Mora clock.

I haven't been to a nail salon in too long and like every Italian gal my hands did a lot of the talking!  Let's hope there aren't any closeups.

It was interesting seeing the behind the scenes of a "reality show".

Mike and Kristin are newly engaged and are to be married next Fall. Aren't they adorable?

Of course it became a family affair.  We had to have food one sister kindly brought the sweets, the other brought the box of Joe.  My son and I fooled around during one of the breaks...

My mother wouldn't have missed it, I was so happy she was there. My sisters were clutch as usual. Love them!

It really was a fun afternoon supposedly airing in 3 months.....I'll let you know when.

In addition to filming crews there are a lot of specials going on at the shop.  Lets call it my House Hunters SALE!!

NEW SHIPMENT and a visit to Sag Harbor!

I am on the road again but first some info....
A couple of dozen pieces from the new shipment have been added to the site HERE.  I haven't gotten a chance to measure and add details. (thank you for your patience)  Email me  for pricing but I will not be back to the shop until Monday if you need measurements.   GREAT STUFF and more to be posted as soon as I can.  There are plenty of new smaller items at the shop and a couple of big pieces.  I don't really take pictures of the small things but I will try and get shop photos soon....whew!  LOTS TO DO!

Anyway I thought you would like a quick tour from my visit to Sag Harbor in Long Island, NY recently. Sag Harbor  is 10 minutes from East Hampton and still has managed to remain a great family town.  Where the town of East Hampton has become glittering, Sag Harbor  has held onto all the original charm a whaling town turned resort can hold.

Many well known and not so well known people have settled into this captivating spot year round.
While we strolled past an an old five and ten cent store, movie theater and lunch spots who walked by but Bobby Flay and his wife. (I had just seen him the week before waiting to go exercise at Soul Cycle.  he's a cutie.)  We also saw Ellen Pompeo, Dr. Meredith Grey from Grey's Anatomy, trying to corral her 2 kids.  FYI their names are Stella Luna and Pompeo Ivery! (No comment!)

My favorite visit was to the VERY PRICEY home store
Monc XIII,  beautifully renovated inside and out.

Hand hewn beams add rustic charm to the Venetian plaster walls throughout.

View from the loft shopping area.

Modern mixes with 19th century beautifully.

They added a full kitchen for their "events" and use and sell the antique silver flatware you see on the windowsill.
NOTE - I have a great selection at the shop, all 20% off.  I use my antique silverplate everyday, dishwasher, the works...LOVE IT!!

MONC XIII had a full line of new leather accessories in this beautiful British tan.  Does anyone need a leather cooler for $1,500.00??? Don't spill the melting ice!

Antique Louis Philippe commodes look great with modern pieces.  I am happy to report I have 2 in my new shipment. (not pictured yet as the marble didn't get unpacked.)

Bloom is another shop I love to visit.  I LOVE being around gorgeous Gustavian and crusty French furniture .

 I LOVED this curved settle...

 Anyone need a statement desk??

I snagged a pair of Manolo's here for a song.  ( Thanks to super shopper big sister, Neener)  whenever she says "get these" I just do!  hahaha! Someday I hope she will have a shop next to mine with the best fashions at unheard of pricing.
The selection of merchandise at THE CORNER CLOSET gave me palpitations!   Please say hello to the delightful owner, Seena Stromkey , if you go.

The American Hotel is a nice spot for dining.

We decided to try Page and were pleased.  Did you know that many restaurants now automatically add 20% gratuity? I read an article about it saying restaurant owners have had to do this because of all of the European visitors in the US resort areas used to the tip being added in their home countries....wish I had read the article before we lunched here, WAIT!, I did....such a ditz sometimes!

This is what I feel like right now with the schedule I have been on.

Demi lunatic! And brief Brimfield recap...

A demilune table is the best solution when you are looking for a resting spot with style.  The curve adds a bit of elegance, not to mention an ease to maneuver around.  Demilune tables are French in origin and are a beautiful and functional (my favorite) addition to any modern or traditional decor.  I have two at the end of this photo run available for a song....

Love the dark floor and the unexpected size of the sconce over this painted demilune..

Pictured above the legs stand open underneath for a clean look..

With the addition of accessories underneath....

Love all the leather books below this one...

I have one in my dining room also and it's a graceful compliment to the sideboard and small chest as it is a lighter piece without drawers or cabinets...

The legs add interest to this modern room. Nothing like a real antique to add warmth and importance.

Traditional table and modern art...the contrast makes it interesting.

Perfect solution for that tough wall. (I have an iron demilune coming in the end of September)

The most graceful bar...

The solution for the tiny eat in kitchen...

 Converted to hold the sink...

I love the row of prints under this mirror.

Elegant and comfortable..

This one is in excellent condition!

Well, just got back from Brimfield and I have been feverishly unpacking.  I already brought things in to the shop so please email me to explain what you are looking for. I will be bringing in new items EVERY DAY  and still will have lots in reserve.  I clicked just a few pics and they are posted HERE.
It was a great trip, so many terrific things.  I love going and buying from people from all over.

It's amazing these sellers ....they look like such tough guys, but they know fabric and pattern and style.  Most people are very knowledgeable and I just LOVE IT!!! I think because there are no pretenses....just here it is and that's it and I am what I am.

It's exciting and I think I would like taking off with a truckfull pulling up to show after show across the USA. Most of them go from one show to the next, just making a living.

I told Rog just 6 months, maybe in my future but I don't want to do it in the rain or if it's really windy or if I have to use a portajohn or if I can't take a bath every night and oh, also if there is no traffic.  whaddya say?  Let's arrange that!

In the collection is both modern and antique and lots  of  special accent pieces.

This Swedish pair made me swoon...

 Mid century desk...

You will be glad to know this guy , above, was NOT for sale...
Check back with me as I unpack and try to get pictures posted.
The weather has been glorious!....ENJOY!!

Hope you have been able to enjoy some summer....
