A gorgeous loft and a great GIVEAWAY!!

Hi everyone! Plans continue for the big store renovation and shipments have been easy to receive at the warehouse as the store on Beechwood Road is temporarily closed. Thank you for the wonderful visits as we expand our lines to include curated pieces that blend beautifully with one of a kind antiques and vintage treasures. I have labored over each choice as I know how much you rely on my help.  It is an exciting time for me to carefully put together relaxed, elegant rooms as I have always known they should be......personal, comfortably unique, authentic and  YOU!   From our new window panel additions to rugs, lighting and the quality fabric on our upholstered furniture line, each piece has been carefully chosen to tell a specific design story.  We have enjoyed helping you achieve that "undecorated, cookie cutter" look you all desire. Be sure to catch my great giveaway opportunity at the end of this post... Talented designer, Michele Niday, has been featured in widely circulated publications. Recently she acquired the gorgeous Swedish Mora clock from me for a client and I thought you would be interested to see her fabulous loft she designed in Los Angeles. Her design shows all the right combinations and contrasts to create a beautiful, interesting and also comfortable home. Notice the contrasts of formal mirror and chandelier with the rustic table and floors, above. Gorgeous brick herringbone floor contrasts with the French chairs. NOTE- when I designed my breakfast room I wanted a brick floor and found real brick veneers at the tile shop....they look great!  Crystal chandelier contrasts with a zinc trestle table (available). I always love the addition of stone as in the tabletop bust (great texture) PERFECT! Such an interesting room but one you feel like relaxing in for hours...she used stone and iron side tables but the room looks anything but "HARD". This room has so much texture...the jute rug,  stone, iron, leather, hides, crystal....LOVE the paint scraped cocktail table. A foyer was created on the right, above, and one small striped wall defines the space. A formal giltwood framed drawing looks perfect with a very rustic table. Charcoal sketches complete the classical feel. (Available) Each room makes me swoon....so often when putting a room together clients say "but it's too rustic for the sofa"... Look at this room and see how perfect the VERY rustic table tones down the formality of the sofa as does the linen upholstery and pillows. If this room had a glass and gilded iron cocktail table instead it would be too formal but this table creates the relaxed magic. Formal painting, above, yet very relaxed area. The striped upholstery is fun but not silly.. Michelle's quote, above reads as if she is speaking my mind...please make sure you enlarge this above to read the text as it is so enlightening.  PS...she has since changed the lights above the island. Love the modern side table with the period mirrors and chandeliers. Couldn't you move right in to Michelle's loft? Kicking back!

No matter what your idea of a relaxed home is there is nothing like this time of year when things finally wind down and you get to reconnect with family and friends, head outdoors and BREATHE... Some fun memories were probably created here... Even visitors without a weekend home have opted for the laid back vibe in their decor. We are enjoying helping clients create the home that is both kid and pet friendly and stylish at the same time. Above is just a sampling of the handmade pillows that are pouring in (and out) as everyone is adding a little summer to their homes.  Especially noted is their rich fabric and appealing price point. One of 2 antique wooden boats on stands also pictured makes a lasting statement on any console.  The canvas sturdy poofs look great and satisfy the need for extra seating. Many accessories available , like the antique fish pitchers, are great gifts when YOU are the lucky house guest. The antique wicker basket, above adds needed texture to any room while holding extra blankets or beach towels. The antique wood bowl on top is a great find as both a catch all on the counter and I use mine for salad.  When not in use the antique wood adds just the necessary warmth to modern furnishings.  We use our antique green bowls for everything ......when in my travels I see something my grandmother used for serving it always makes me feel nostalgic for those times.  I think these green bowls will do the same for my children. (Only 2 available) A similar cocktail table is available.... Check out the website HERE THE most comfortable linen sofa arrived this week and is ready for immediate delivery, (linen fish pillows are included) come pop a squat! Dreamy original art.... Just hung this week are these original vintage sailing race photographs....they make a great series and one can also stand alone in a smaller space. In RARE color these WOOL bathing suits are just back from the framer....adorable and definitely a conversation piece. I can't imagine wearing a bathing suit without LYCRA or how about WET WOOL mixed with SAND???? We have DOG PILLOWS!!  I also have a a weakness for that perfect grey shaded metal and love what they add to the relaxed home especially when they can become useful. Shown above with flip flops and sunscreen they are also wonderful beer and wine coolers and magazine bins. This antique tub is party size!  Filled with ice (or pool toys) you will have it forever ....it's STURDY!  The antique wooden mast rings have a modern feel when hung as wall art. The easiest way to warm up a room and make it feel complete is to add curtains. Our ready made window panel (samples above in burlap and linen)  add that simple relaxed feel. Dining tables and exciting news!!

Some of our best times are around the dining table. On my  first trip to France I brought home a great antique trestle table. It has been the center of our most memorable events at home. From formal dinners with crystal and silver to high school football and lacrosse meals for 30, always hungry, young men. Sturdy and solid, the hallmark of a quality antique, we have added our own memories to the history these beauties carried with them to our home. An antique table partners beautifully with modern decor removing the sterile feel sometimes a problem with modern. Nothing like old wood......immediate mood! I saw copies of these ghost chairs at Homegoods! The upholstered host chair adds warmth and a softness needed with all the plastic. You don't need to compromise style because of the very affordable seating. It all comes together and the dining table anchors the space and creates  importance. This drapers table adds the unique quality to this kitchen. It's the contrast of periods and finishes that creates the interest .....married together, beautiful. Beautiful linen and burlap styles, some with embroidery to add to the solid linen and solid silk you all have been happy with. All panels are heavy cotton lined and the silks are double lined and weighted. Panels come standard 50 x 96 and 50 x 108 with a rod pocket and back tabs and can be hung with ring clips.  A 2 inch header is standard. Newly offered are pinch pleats and custom sizes are now available. You are going to LOVE the quality and pricing and convenience .....we are here and happy to help you make choices.
